Course overview: |
|
This course will develop driving skills to the professional standard required by UK NHS |
|
|
Ambulance Service Trusts. Using our own IHCD (Edexcel) instructors who hold DSA registered |
|
|
Approved Driving Instructor certification, students are taught to drive an ambulance (DVLA |
|
|
Category B: 3,500kg) safely, smoothly, systematically & progressively under all road & traffic |
|
|
conditions in line with the IHCD Ambulance Driving Manual. D1 (5 days) consists of practical |
|
|
systematic driving, knowledge of the Highway Code, Road Traffic Law, & the Ambulance |
|
|
Driving Manual. D2 (10 days) covers advanced driving techniques in non-emergency & |
|
|
emergency "Blue Light" situations as per the Ambulance Driving Manual & the Police |
|
|
Foundation manual "Roadcraft". |
|

IHCD (Edexcel) Level 3 award. |

Requirements: |

You must hold a current UK car driving licence (DVLA Category B) or European equivalent. |

driving, overtaking, corners & bends, reversing & manoeuvring, hazard awareness, motorway |

emergency driving, driver attitude responding to emergencies. |
