Vascular Access, Peripheral IV Cannulation & Intraosseous Infusion
 
Course overview:
This course is designed to enhance the knowledge & skills of persons trained to EMT level or
equivalent, who have a basic knowledge of fluid loss & the need for venous access, fluid
replacement & fluid resuscitation.
 
Validation:
2 years. Lifeskills Medical award. EIHS Approved, MTA Approved.
 
 
Course length:
2 days. Course held at Lifeskills Medical EMS Training Centre Stafford.
 
 
Requirements:
You must be able to show evidence of training to a minimum of Emergency Medical Technician
(or equivalent standard).
 
Course includes:
Fluids & electrolytes, fluid & electrolyte movement, IV fluid composition, IV & cannulation
techniques & administration, potential complications, intraosseous infusion, calculating fluid
infusion rates, universal precautions & clinical waste disposal.

Advanced Airway Management
 
Course overview:
This course is designed to enhance the knowledge & skills of persons trained to EMT level or
equivalent, who individually or as part of a team, may have to or assist in advanced airway
management.

Course length:
2 days. Course held at Lifeskills Medical EMS Training Centre Stafford.
 
 
Requirements:
You must be able to show evidence of training to a minimum of Emergency Medical Technician

Course includes:
Endotracheal intubation, laryngeal mask airway, I-Gel airway, multi lumen airways, rapid
sequence intubation, needle cricothyroidotomy, needle chest decompression.

12 Lead ECG Monitoring, Recording & Analysis
 
Course overview:
This course is designed to enhance the knowledge & skills of persons of persons trained to
EMT level or equivalent, who have a basic knowledge of 3 lead ECG, shockable & non
shockable rhythms & the electrical conductivity of the heart.

Requirements:
You must be able to show evidence of training to a minimum of Emergency Medical Technician

What is 12 lead ECG, What do ECG leads record, 12 lead placement, 12 lead ECG in a normal
heart, 12 lead ECG in a damaged heart, benefits of using 12 lead ECG, guidelines for taking a

Advanced Cardiac Life Support
 
Course overview:
This course is designed to enhance the knowledge & skills of persons trained to EMT level or
equivalent, who have knowledge of Basic Life Support (BLS) or Immediate Life Support (ILS).
It will enhance the skills of personnel who may be involved in a cardiac arrest scenario as an
individual or team responder, or anyone who may deal with patients with cardiovascular
disease. It also enables the BLS provider to assist, anticipate & recognise the needs of their
ALS provider peers.
 
Validation:
2 years. Lifeskills Medical award. EIHS Approved, MTA Approved.
 
Course length:
2 days. Course held at Lifeskills Medical EMS Training Centre Stafford.
 
Requirements:
You must be able to show evidence of training to a minimum of Emergency Medical Technician

Course includes:
BLS review, advanced cardiac life support, post resuscitative care, management of
symptomatic bradycardia, management of tachycardia, techniques for the management of
  cardiac emergencies, medications commonly prescribed to patients with cardio vascular

Gynaecological & Obstetric Emergencies
 
Course overview:
This course is designed to enhance the knowledge & skills of persons trained to EMT level or
equivalent, who will in the course of their duties have to deal with gynaecological & obstetric
emergencies.

conditions, general management of gynaecological trauma, estimating blood loss, anatomy of
female reproductive system, conception & gestation, physiological maternal changes during
