You need to tell your doctor that you are having severe leg cramps. As much as you want to keep your potassium low for your kidneys, you need to have potassium to keep your heart muscle healthy and working properly.  If the cramps are getting in your leg muscles, just think what it will eventually do your heart muscle.  You dont want that.     I have foot and leg cramps, too, especially when I am being careful to watch the potassium intake, but at the first cramp I go for the grape juice or for the Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar--something quick to put the potassium back in the system.
